My natural dye practice is grounded in experimentation, observation, and relationship to place.
I create color from plants and organic materials such as toyon, tea, onion skins, flowers, herbs, and seasonal plant matter. Much of this material is locally gathered, grown, or sourced from food waste streams.
Rather than approaching dyeing solely as a technical process, I treat it as a dialogue with the material. Each plant behaves differently depending on season, preparation, fiber, and time. This unpredictability is central to the work.
Through this practice, I explore themes of ecology, impermanence, and regeneration. Natural dyeing offers a way to work with living systems rather than against them, creating color that is dynamic, responsive, and deeply connected to its origin.
